Another report card behind us and a holiday in front of us! November 17 is our last day of class before the Thanksgiving Break. Our school will be closed for the entire week of November 21 through November 25.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday, and we’ll see you back on November 28th!
Austen-Coley Academy welcomed two new students this week, both in the Core 4 class. Monday, we will welcome another new student into the Core 2 class. We are so honored to be serving the dyslexic children of East Texas and proud these families have trusted in our school to make a difference in the lives of these special students. Welcome aboard!
The students of Austen-Coley Academy enjoyed a special surprise on October 17 when the Longview Fire Department came out for a presentation on fire safety. Our students have been learning fire safety procedures with a fire drill the week before the department came.
What they did not expect was the large fire engine to pull up alongside the school for their viewing pleasure. The students got to explore the truck, meet the firemen and use the hose on our building exterior.
Thank you to the Longview Fire Department for a very memorable day!! Austen-Coley Academy appreciates all you do!
Fire Safety Day at Austen-Coley Academy
We have just completed our first parent-teacher conferences! Congratulations to our students at Austen-Coley Academy for a very successful first grading period and thank you to the most wonderful staff in all of East Texas for your dedication and hard work! Now it’s time for some upcoming fun!
Thursday, October 27, each student will be sent home with a pumpkin. Have fun working with your child on carving or painting the most creative pumpkin ever! Then on Halloween Monday, bring the pumpkin back to the school to be put on display and judged in a school-wide contest. Each student is also encouraged to wear a costume that day for another contest and for their school party. The newly decorated Jack O Lanterns will be sent back home with your child for you to use on Halloween!
Stay tuned for information being sent home next week!!
